How to use the cabin expenses spreadsheet

Download the Excel workbook and save your own copy. Add one row per bill or purchase, using the date, description, category, amount, payer and payment status columns. Keep a receipt reference or short note beside the entry so another family member can understand it later.

  1. Choose the same category names each time so the records stay consistent.
  2. Enter the bill amount once. Record the person who paid separately from the description.
  3. Mark the payment status when the bill is settled with its provider.
  4. Review recorded, paid and unpaid totals before discussing the next season’s costs.

What do the totals mean?

Recorded costs add all entered amounts. Paid costs include entries marked paid. Unpaid costs include entries marked unpaid. These totals describe bills; they do not calculate reimbursements between family members. A provider being paid does not necessarily mean every family contribution has been settled.

Does this split costs automatically?

No. The workbook keeps the evidence for a conversation in one place. It does not assign ownership shares, decide who owes money, or transfer funds. Agree separately on how your family handles shared purchases and keep that agreement with the records.

Can I move the spreadsheet into Everporch?

There is no automatic spreadsheet import in this starter. You can keep using the workbook or manually add the costs you want to track in the app. The download works without creating an Everporch account.
